Consulting and Executive Advisory Client: Curriculum Development Company

The Challenge

Think was originally engaged to assist a half a million dollar Curriculum Development Company seven years ago when the company was awarded a 10 million dollar contract and was not in the position with their staff or processes to deliver that contract. Since then, the client has grown to be a 83 million dollar company and Think has continued to bring control to their projects. Most recently, Think was asked to build a control framework to manage their large quantity of technology projects being conducted in silos across the organization.

The Solution

Think completed an audit of technology projects underway as well as in the planning stage across the organization. We collated this project list into a central cloud based repository, made it widely available to decision makers, and ran a bi-weekly meeting to maintain momentum and visibility of the portfolio. We were then able to make decisions at a portfolio level — resource allocation, prioritization and budgeting decisions could all be made based on the data.

The Results

Think has been retained by the client for the next phase, which includes introducing an extra level of control with the Project Control Board (PCB). The PCB will manage technology projects throughout the entire project lifecycle – review new project proposals to ensure they are in strategic alignment, assist in the development of a business case which articulates value to the business, and track projects through to completion to ensure that value in recognized.
