So risk management is a topic that’s near and dear to my heart. It’s a key responsibility of every PM. So ask any PM how they manage risk and they’re most definitely going to tell you that they start the project by creating a risk register, look at what the biggest risks are created register, create a mitigation strategy and that’s great and it’s necessary but that’s where they stop and that’s the problem. Risk has to be assessed that has to be actively managed throughout the project. It’s not just create a risk register and hope it’s actively management you have to keep the risk top of mind not only for yourself to PM but across the whole team and for the stakeholders and the sponsor as well. Finally we don’t stop with just a mitigation strategy you’re going to try to mitigate the risk but what if you fail, if you fail we have to know ahead of time what are the option or options that we’re going to use a a back-up if we fail to mitigate the risk and we realize the risk so not just mitigation lets make sure we understand what we’re going to do is we realize the risk
